Following the way of Jesus,
St. John's gathers as a caring community
to serve our neighbors and share God's love.
Social Ministry
St. John's is involved in many types of social ministry programs that are at their heart focused on helping our neighbor. These include helping our local neighbors, as well as those around the world. These projects include but are not limited to;
- Donations to SPCA & Paws Pet Organizations
- School Supplies Drive for GEMMA
- Support & donations for The Breathing Room
- Annual collection of Christmas gifts for GEMMA
- ELCA Disaster Response
- Lutheran Immigration & Refugee Services
- Local food banks
- The Welcome Church in Philadelphia
- Many more....
Our call as the people of God is focused on serving others no matter where or who they are. We continue to find new ways in which we can help those in need.

Food Pantry Donations
We collect donations of non-perishable items for local food pantries as well as those who come to us in need.

The first Sunday of each month we put together breakfast bags that go to The Breathing room. These bags contain snacks and healthy items that are given to those fighting cancer.

New Generation Fund
Each year we prayerfully explore where we might serve the needs of those beyond our local community. Our New Generation Fund is essential to this social ministry outreach. The New Generation Fund is designated each year for a specific cause or group and donations are taken throughout the year to support their ministry.

2026 New Generation Fund
Our 2026 NGF recipient is Good Gifts through the ELCA. Good Gifts reaches over 80 countries with its various programs and resources. From funding new business's for local workers, to providing animals for farming, clean water systems and wells, school supplies and tuition, seeds and items needed for growing food, the ELCA Good Gifts program is an important part of the work of caring for those most in need, by providing long term sustainability and support for those we serve.
